AHS Private Voice Lesson Instructors
Nicole Messier

Nicole Messier (soprano) is a graduate from the University of Missouri-Kansas City who is thrilled to be returning to the Twin Cities as a private voice instructor. In the fall of 2010, Nicole appeared as Blanche in the UMKC Opera Theatre’s production of Poulenc’s Dialogues des Carmélites. Past productions include: Magda in The Consul, Principessa in Suor Angelica, Katisha in The Mikado, and Marcellina in Le Nozze di Figaro. In addition to the Master of Music in Voice Performance, Nicole holds a Bachelor of Music in Voice Performance and a Bachelor of Arts in English from Lawrence University and Conservatory. An avid voice student herself, Nicole has had the privilege of working under the tutelage of teachers such as Mary Kay Schmidt, Dr. Rebecca Sherburn, John DeHahn, and Signore Rita Patane.

Sandra Schoenecker

A native of the Twin Cities, mezzo-soprano Sandra Schoenecker has performed with many local organizations including the Minnesota Opera, North Star Opera (now Skylark Opera), Theatre de la Jeune Lune, the Gilbert and Sullivan Very Light Opera Company and New Breath Productions. Sandra is currently a section leader and soloist at House of Hope Presbyterian Church in St. Paul and a member of the VocalEssence Ensemble Singers. She is also a private vocal instructor at Armstrong, Tartan and Mahtomedi Senior High Schools.

Matthew Tintes

Matthew Tintes is a private voice lesson instructor, performer, and choir director. Originally hailing from Fargo, ND, Mr. Tintes is a graduate of North Dakota State University, earning a degree in Vocal Music Education. Mr. Tintes then attended the University of Wisconsin in Madison, where he earned his Master's Degree in Vocal Performance. For 7 seasons, Mr. Tintes was part of the nationally and internationally acclaimed men’s vocal ensemble, Cantus. While with Cantus, Tintes got to perform and tour the country, and the world, as well as record several albums, and appear on various popular radio programs such as A Prairie Home Companion, and NPR’s Tiny Desk Concerts. In addition to his studio of nearly 40 students and directing The Hosanna Choir at St. Stephen Lutheran Church in Bloomington, MN., Mr. Tintes also maintains an active performance calendar, performing with ensembles such as Consortium Carissimi and The Together In Hope Choir.

David Walton
Praised for his “clean, clear voice,” David Walton dazzles stages across the country to critical acclaim. Recent roles in opera include Almaviva in Il barbiere di Siviglia with the Glimmerglass Festival and Ernesto in Don Pasquale with Minnesota Opera. Other company appearances include Fort Worth Opera, Cincinnati Opera, Opera Carolina, and Madison Opera. Upcoming company debuts this season include Virginia Opera and Opera Paralléle in San Francisco. He was a Resident Artist with Minnesota Opera and participated as a Young Artist with Opera Theatre of Saint Louis and the Glimmerglass Festival. As a concert soloist, he has performed with the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, Reno Philharmonic, South Dakota Symphony Orchestra, Saint Louis Symphony, and Indianapolis Chamber Orchestra.
David sang with Cantus for three seasons, performing around the globe in venues like the Kennedy Center and the Royal Opera House of Muscat, Oman while also singing on programs such as NPR’s Tiny Desk Concerts and A Prairie Home Companion. Locally, he has performed numerous concerts with Minnesota Orchestra, St. Paul Chamber Orchestra, Minnesota Bach Ensemble, and National Lutheran Choir. David holds a private studio at home, and also teaches at Central High School and Shattuck St. Mary’s. He received his Bachelors of Music Education from Harding University in Searcy, Arkansas and his Masters of Music from The University of Mississippi. David lives in St. Paul with his wife and two sons.

Patty Kramer
Patty Kramer (mezzo-soprano) is a private voice teacher and performer livin’ and thrivin’ in the Twin Cities area. She received her Bachelor of Music degree from Concordia College (in Moorhead, MN), her Master of Music degree from Bowling Green State University (in Ohio), and is currently a doctoral candidate at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Before moving to the Twin Cities, Patty worked as an Adjunct Instructor of Voice for Peru State College and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln teaching private voice and Advanced Topics in Musical Theater. She also worked as a vocal coach for the Broadway Academy in Sutton, NE for five glorious seasons. Nowadays, you can find Patty working at Westminster Presbyterian Church as one of their section leaders or singing at rehearsal for one of the various professional choirs she performs with or coaches for (VocalEssence Ensemble Singers, VESOTA (VocalEssence Singers of This Age), Minnesota Chorale, and sounding light with director Tom Trenney)… that is, when she is not trying to finish her doctoral document!! Her favorite hobbies include finding new art songs or musical theater music to explore, reading fantasy novels, playing with her two cats, running on trails, and eating dark chocolate.
